Reports indicate that the European Union plans to further restrict the use of Huawei and ZTE communications equipment. Apparently, some representatives want to ban the 5G internet service of these two Chinese companies in EU member states.
It is interesting to know that only 10 of the 27 member countries of the European Union have stopped cooperation with two companies, Huawei and ZTE. European representatives are concerned that these two companies pose significant security risks to the EU and its citizens.
Although the activities of Huawei and ZTE have not been banned in all European countries, most EU member states intend to ban these two companies. At least 21 of the 27 member states of the Union have established laws for risk assessment, and three countries are in the process of passing laws in this field.
Following the passage of the Risk Assessment of High-Risk Vendors Act, many European countries will have the power to ban certain vendors from supplying 5G equipment or remove equipment that has already been deployed. It seems that all EU member states are on the same page regarding banning Huawei and ZTE 5G networks; But the three countries have not yet taken action against these two sellers.
Due to the strained diplomatic relations between Beijing and Washington, Huawei and ZTE have been banned from supplying 5G equipment to the United States and the United Kingdom. India also banned these two vendors from participating in its 5G spectrum auctions a few years ago due to national security concerns.
Both Huawei and ZTE maintain their innocence and claim that their equipment was never used for espionage by the Chinese government. However, Western national security agencies remain skeptical.
