How does Zoomit check smartphones?

[ad_1]

Zoom function: Zoomit also checks the performance of telephoto and main cameras in optical and digital zoom.

Stabilization: With moving videos, the performance of the phone’s optical and electronic stabilizer in neutralizing vibrations is examined.

Night mode: Zoomit usually takes a number of photos in both automatic and night mode to demonstrate the functionality of the night photography mode.

Filming: Zoomit evaluates the performance of the phone in terms of detail capture, contrast and noise control in 4K and HDR videos (if supported by the device) by shooting in different modes and frame rates.

Efficiency, performance and charging

The first part of “Efficiency and Performance” contains explanations about the details of the technical specifications of the device’s processor and other modules; Then it’s time for the statistics and figures obtained from the benchmark execution and the user experience of the Zomit editorial team. Zoomit benchmarks include storage memory speed, CPU and GPU performance, gaming performance, and device performance stability under heavy processing loads.

In order to increase the reliability of the obtained results, Zomit reports the average of the resulting numbers by running each of the benchmarks 3 times. To maintain the temperature balance of the device, there is a 5-minute break between each benchmark run (except for the stability test), and on the other hand, with Paying attention to the effect of ambient temperature on the performance of the device, tests are taken at room temperature (23 degrees Celsius). Note that during the execution of the benchmarks, the phone remains without a frame so as not to disturb the heat transfer process.

In the following, each of the stages of checking the performance of the phones is described:

Storage memory function

Zomit uses the AndroBench application to measure the speed of reading and writing in the storage memory of Android phones, and the Jazz Disk Bench application to measure the speed of the iPhone memory. The sequential reading and writing speed of Android phones is measured using 32 and 2 MB files; However, the mentioned test is performed on iOS devices with a 16 MB file.

CPU performance is checked using the GeekBench 5 cross-platform benchmark in the form of two single or multi-core tests. Geekbench is one of the most popular benchmarks in the mobile world and is available for Android, iOS, Windows, Linux and macOS platforms. Geekbench uses three types of Crypto, Integer and Floating Point processing loads to evaluate CPU performance:

  • Crypto: measures the device’s ability to process computational loads based on cryptographic (encrypted) instructions. Only some software uses crypto instructions.
  • Integer: measures the device’s ability to process computational loads based on Integer instructions. All software uses the Integer instruction; Therefore, getting a high score in this section means a very good overall performance of the processor.
  • Floating Point: Measures the device’s ability to process computing loads based on Floating Point instructions. Almost all software uses the Floating Point instruction; But processor performance is important in processing such loads in cases such as video games and digital content production.

* Primate Labs, developer of the GeekBench benchmark, released GeekBench 6 version with improved algorithm in February 2023, Zoomit will gradually replace the 5th version in its reviews.

The increasing popularity of mobile games increases the importance of the graphics processing unit (GPU); Therefore, it is obvious that Zomit pays special attention to the performance of this module in its reviews. Regardless of running different games, in Zoomit reviews, GPU performance is evaluated with the help of GeekBench Compute and GFXBench benchmarks.
