In its proposal, Apple has announced that with the start of payment at the end of January (11th of February), the revenue share of Spatial Audio songs will be calculated with a factor of 1.1. Currently, this coefficient is one for any normal song.
Bloomberg reported some time ago that Apple plans to offer incentives to singers and music distribution companies to release songs in the Dolby Atmos format. Most smartphones and tablets and new wireless earbuds support Spatial Audio for better sales.
All new Apple devices support Spatial Audio, including AirPods, iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, i-in-one iMacs, Apple TV set-top boxes, and HomePod speakers. Apple mobile phones from iPhone XS onwards (except for iPhone SE) support this format, as do the new models of Samsung phones, i.e. Galaxy S24 Ultra and Galaxy S23 Ultra, and Google Pixel 8 Pro.
Currently, a large number of new tracks are available in both Dolby Atmos and stereo modes. According to Apple Music, many songs can now be accessed with Spatial Audio.
The Spatial Audio format is available on other music streaming apps like Tidal and Amazon Music Unlimited and video streaming platforms like Netflix and HBO Max. With Spotify, it has not yet been able to offer a feature similar to Spatial Audio.
