Twitter is ramping up advertising for Starlink, Elon Musk’s satellite internet

SpaceX, space company Elon Musk, has bought one of the big advertising packages of Twitter. Formerly a public company, Twitter has been acquired by Elon Musk in recent weeks in a $44 billion deal to further expand the business empire of the world’s richest man.

According to CNBCSpaceX’s Twitter campaign focuses on its Starlink satellite internet service. SpaceX is apparently planning to increase the number of Starlink users thanks to Twitter ads in Spain and Australia. SpaceX is said to have spent more than $250,000 on Twitter’s advertising package.

Thanks to Twitter’s advertising package, SpaceX ads will be placed on top of the text-based social network’s timeline for a full day. On the day or days designated for SpaceX’s campaign, Starlink ads will appear the first three times a user opens the Twitter app. The promotional package was purchased by SpaceX in the last week and will probably be activated in Australia and then in Spain.

A number of current and former Twitter employees, who did not want to be identified, told CNBC that SpaceX has often not bought large advertising packages on Twitter in recent years.

In addition to managing Twitter and SpaceX, Musk is known as the leader of Tesla. Tesla doesn’t have a public relations team and doesn’t spend a lot on conventional advertising. For years, Elon Musk personally publishes all important Tesla announcements on Twitter and does marketing for the brand.

Since taking over Twitter, Elon Musk has placed special emphasis on increasing the revenues of this social network. Before being taken over by Elon Musk, Twitter had 237.8 million active daily users, and unofficial reports say that the number of users has increased. Musk plans to make half of Twitter’s revenue dependent on the $8 Twitter Blue subscription service.
