Could the megalodon shark still be alive?

Although much of the ocean is still unexplored, Cooper believes there are many reasons why the Megalodon went extinct. First of all, the food web has changed compared to the reign of this beast. Megalodon was not like today’s huge beach sharks; Rather, it was considered the apex predator of the food chain, and as a result, it had a great impact on the ocean ecosystem.

The disappearance of Megalodon had cascading consequences. For example, whales were one of the main prey of Megalodon; But after the extinction of this animal, there was no other predator to eat them and as a result, they became much bigger. Some of today’s large marine mammals, such as the blue whale, also evolved after the extinction of Megalodon. So, in summary, the current food web is somewhat affected by the absence of Megalodon.
