The performance of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will be up to 20% better than the previous generation of this chip

Since Qualcomm will use TSMC’s 4nm process to make Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, Yogesh Brar It believes that the new system-on-chip should show similar benchmarks as Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 in terms of performance. Judging by Yogesh’s tweet, he seems to be describing a flagship chip. He also says that the heat generated by this chip is not much, but he did not share any details about this, so we cannot comment on how it will perform in long workloads.

to report WccfTech, the Cortex X2 core frequency of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip is the same as the Cortex X3 core frequency of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. However, the new X3 cores are built on an improved architecture. Similarly, Qualcomm is said to be using ARM’s latest Cortex A715 cores, so the pairing of the latter and Cortex X3 cores is likely to result in improved performance. The configuration of Qualcomm’s next flagship SoC is expected to be as follows:

  • A Cortex X3 core with a frequency of 3.2 GHz
  • Two Cortex A715 cores with a frequency of 2.8 GHz
  • Two Cortex A710 cores with a frequency of 2.8 GHz
  • Three Cortex A510 cores with a frequency of 2 GHz

Yogesh It didn’t mention whether Qualcomm is preparing two versions of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, so we’ll have to wait for more information on that in the coming days. For now, our first impression is that Qualcomm has made a smart move and switched to TSMC’s 4nm technology. The proof of the superiority of this lithography compared to Samsung’s 4 nm technology is the game benchmark test, in which Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 performed better than Apple’s A15 Bionic. Looking at those benchmark results, we’re excited to see how the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will perform.

Considering that Qualcomm has officially announced the date of holding the annual meeting of Snapdragon, there is not much time left until the introduction of the next generation of the company’s flagship chip.
