The report states that the performance of the Korean flagship chip has improved by only 5% in the CPU section and by almost 17% in the GPU section. The Exynos 2100 chip, meanwhile, saw a 30 percent increase in performance compared to the Exynos 990 in the CPU segment and a 40 percent increase in the graphics unit. Therefore, on paper, it seems that Samsung has not only made no significant progress in this area; It has also lost its average annual growth.
It should not be overlooked that the SOC is not limited to the CPU and GPU components, and apparently Samsung’s new chip in the NPU (neural processing unit) section offers 117% better performance compared to the previous generation. More powerful AI processing can speed up voice assistants like Bixby, and therefore have a significant impact on image processing.
However, Samsung chips have always been weak in graphics processing, and working with AMD was expected to close the gap.
