The decline in sales of Apple Watch in the first half of 2023 and the fall of Samsung to the third place in the smart watch market

While Apple managed to maintain its first position among the top sellers of smart watches in the first quarter of 2023, its sales decreased compared to the first quarter of last year and reached below 10 million dollars.
Although the Apple Watch Series 8 received rave reviews and made it to the best smartwatch lists of many tech review sites, it doesn’t seem to be as popular as previous generations. However, the Cupertino-based tech giant launched two more smartwatches in the fall of 2022, but these products also did not help compensate for the decline in sales in the first quarter of 2023. In fact, the 32% share of this brand in the first quarter of last year has now reached 26%.
Samsung’s share of the smart watch market in the first quarter of 2022 was equal to 10%, which decreased to 9% in the first quarter of this year, and this caused the Korean brand to fall one place from the second place, now to the third place in the list. Interestingly, the popularity of Galaxy smartwatches has increased in the period between January and March 2023 in North America.
It is quite clear that most people in India are interested in buying basic models of smartwatches with more limited features and more affordable prices, and China and many other countries outside of North America prefer to buy smart bracelets and health trackers.
