The contract between Microsoft and Activision-Blizzard has not been finalized; But it is close

While it looks like Microsoft may be able to finalize its planned acquisition of Activision Blizzard, there is still no set date for closing the deal.

The CAT held a case management conference today to decide whether the current appeal against the UK Competition and Markets Authority’s decision to block the Activision Blizzard deal should be stayed.

In the end, it was agreed to temporarily postpone the hearing of the appeal. The CMA, on the other hand, must provide specific evidence to the CAT before midnight on Thursday and the ruling is made official.

The CMA announced on Friday that it would adjourn its investigation into the contract from July 18 to August 29. The extension will give Microsoft, Activision Blizzard and the CMA time to have further discussions and for Microsoft to get the CMA’s approval to complete the new deal.
