In December 1400, the vice president of sales and marketing of Kerman Khodro announced for the first time that the new Jack J7 sedan will be produced by this company and will be released in the country’s market in 1401. This was despite the fact that about a year ago, the first device of this car was imported to Iran for technical tests and marketing stages. Now it has been reported that Kerman Khodro has just started trial production of J7, but the car that is going to go to the Iranian market is different from what was previously imported for testing. To better understand this difference, it is better to have a look at the background of this Jack sedan.
Introducing Jack A5 Or J7
At the 2019 Chengdu Auto Show, Jack introduced a new compact sedan called A5 under the Jiayue sub-brand. This car was originally considered as a replacement for Jack J5, which was also launched in our country and was successful. The sale of A5 in China started at the end of 2019, and about a year later, it was launched under the name J7 in Mexico and Russia. This car is a compact liftback sedan, which means that its trunk opens like a Citroen Xantia along with the rear window. The A5 was designed at Jack’s design center in Turin, Italy.
The exterior design of this Chinese sedan was done by Daniele Gaglione, who used to work at Alfa Romeo and became famous for designing the Alfa Romeo 8C. The interior of the car was also designed by former Maserati and Lancia designer Carlo Cancilio. However, in the front view of A5, similarities with Kia and Ford products can be seen. Under the hood of this car is a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo engine that produces 150 horsepower and 210 Nm of torque and is connected to a CVT gearbox. A5 became Jack’s best-selling product in 2020 by selling 26,000 units in China.
Jack’s facelift and brand change A5 Or J7
In early 2018, Jack established a brand called Sehol, which is pronounced “Sihao” in Chinese, through a joint venture with Volkswagen. This brand was originally intended to manufacture and sell the electric version of Jack products, but in 2020 its strategy changed, and since then Jack has transferred almost all of its sedans and crossovers to the Sihao brand. In this way, Jack A5 was also marketed under the name Sihao A5 from 2020 onwards. Then, at the 2021 Shanghai exhibition, the facelift version of this car was introduced under the name Sihao A5 Plus.
In this facelift, we see relatively large changes in the appearance of the A5, so that the nose of the car has been completely redesigned according to the design language of the Sihao brand. We have already seen this design language in new Sihao products such as X4 and QX crossovers. At the front of the A5 Plus, the lights and grille have become slimmer, while the bumper has been completely redesigned with larger air intakes. At the back, although the lights are still all over the place, their design has been completely updated. The rear bumper has also received a new look with a new diffuser and vertical fog lights.
Inside the A5 Plus, the overall form of the dashboard has been preserved, but now the middle console, info-entertainment display, steering wheel and air vents have all been changed and given a more modern look to the car cabin. One of the most important changes to the A5 Plus is the upgrade of its powertrain because this car is equipped with a 1.5-liter boosted TGDI engine that now produces 184 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. These numbers are a significant increase over the regular A5, making the A5 Plus the fastest Jack and Cihao car. In addition, power transmission is now done by a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission instead of a CVT transmission.

According to the pictures published from the test production line of Kerman Khodro, unlike what we have seen before, this company has chosen the facelift version of A5, namely A5 Plus, for production and distribution in Iran. Since the trial production of this car has already started, we will probably see its release to the country’s market by the end of this year. At the moment, it is not clear what type of A5 Plus Kerman Khodro will offer in Iran, but most likely we will not see the full version of this car because the domestic manufacturer has a brilliant history of reducing the options of Jack products! However, we can expect equipment such as electric trunk door, sunroof, stability control and traction control system, 360-degree camera, heated seats, digital amp panel, four airbags, cruise control and light sensor in the Iranian-made A5 Plus.

We still don’t know if this Chinese sedan will be produced in our country with the same old 1.5-liter 150-horsepower engine or if Kerman Khodro will install a more powerful 184-horsepower TGDI engine on it, but since this Iranian car manufacturer, in order to adapt to Iran’s weather and gasoline conditions, , has reduced the power of the KMC K7 crossover engine to 161 hp, if it equips the A5 Plus with a TGDI engine, it will most likely reduce its power from 184 hp. Meanwhile, since Kerman Khodro has recently launched two Jack products, i.e. K7 crossover and T8 pickup under the new KMC brand in Iran, and considering that Jack’s previous sedans are known in our country as J4 and J5, it is very likely that this new sedan It will be sold under the name KMC J7.
Price KMC J7 in Iran
The price of Sihao A5 Plus in China starts from 98,800 yuan, equivalent to 14,850 dollars, and according to this number, we should expect a price between 800 and 900 million tomans for it in Iran. With this price, currently the main competitor of KMC J7 in Iran will be Chery Arizo 6.
