Sony’s new giant screen makes it possible to create virtual worlds in the studio

Lucasfilm and Disney used digital screens for The Mandalorian series in 2020. Those displays were the result of the collaboration between Disney and Epic Games and used the Unreal Engine game engine. The Disney and Epic Games displays rendered 3D visual content instantly with Nvidia GPUs.
Sony’s new screen consists of 450 separate screens. Each display has 8 LED panels. The combination of numerous displays makes Sony’s large display provide an impressive contrast ratio and achieve a dot distance of 1.5 mm.
Displays of this size usually have a dot pitch of 2.6 mm. Dot spacing is the distance between individual dots on the screen. The smaller this distance, the higher the image resolution. Sony says its new studio will start working next week.
