Microsoft plans to make it easier for users to change the default programs of Windows 11

Microsoft has promised significant changes to the way Windows default programs are managed and how users can pin programs to the Start menu or taskbar.
Microsoft’s new deep linking scheme in Settings allows developers to direct users to change the default programs to open certain file types or links.
Separately, Microsoft has also begun testing a new API to allow apps to pin primary or secondary tiles to the Windows taskbar.
The Redmond-based tech giant has published an article on its official blog titled “A basic approach to app pinning and app defaults in Windows” that likely fixes some of the issues in these areas. Windows 11 will fix it.
