Intel to launch Enthusiast graphics card in 2023 to compete with Nvidia and AMD

Intel has long been regarded as one of the world’s largest chip designers and manufacturers. However, the Blue Team has never had a place in the graphics card market. Nvidia and AMD are the undisputed rulers of the graphics card market, and so far, with their brilliant performance, they have not allowed any third company to approach them. Nevertheless, it seems that Intel is trying to break this dipole and launch its flagship graphics cards.

Details of Intel’s ambition have now been released, indicating that the company plans to launch the Enthusiast gaming graphics card in 2023; The card with the beating heart is an Intel DG3 or Battlemage chip codenamed “Elasti”. The graphics chip is said to be in the category of professional and flagship graphics cards, and Intel will be the winner against the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 and AMD Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards.

The report comes as Intel is about a few months away from launching DG2 ARC Alchemist GPUs to compete with advanced graphics cards, including the Radeon RX 6000 and GeForce RTX 30. It is unclear at this time what position Intel will gain in the flagship graphics card market and what power its graphics chips will bring.

However, rumors have it that the ARC Alchemist A series performs at or slightly better than the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Radeon RX 6800/6700 XT, and apparently the Intel graphics card certainly won’t be the best on the market; But it could be a turning point for Intel after decades away from the graphics card market.

It is interesting to know that the Intel DG2 ARC Alchemist graphics card will provide the first dedicated game drivers and can have a lot of gaming expertise. Overall, Intel seems to have full confidence in the ARC graphics card series, and by 2023 we could probably see the most powerful graphics chips in the family.

Meanwhile, evidence shows that Intel is researching a “Tiled-GPU or multi-chip parallel architecture” approach for use in its next-generation graphics chip, called the DG3. It should be noted, however, that AMD is likely to offer a multi-chip graphics architecture with the RDNA 3 series, and Intel may be the second graphics chip maker to go that route.

This approach will pave the way for integrated graphics chips; This is because Meteor Lake CPUs reportedly use a multi-chip design with separate CPU / GPU / SOC IPs. Meteor Lake processors with ARC-integrated graphics chips are said to be a huge challenge for AMD in the mobile chip market (optimized for portable products). However, it should not be overlooked that AMD will also be redesigning the Raizen series APUs with RDNA 2 graphics cores next month, which will improve performance; Therefore, Intel can not be a threat to the red team until at least 2023.

Some reports claim that Intel does not even consider AMD as a competitor and, in fact, has turned its attention to competing with NVIDIA Ada Lovelace GPUs. Nvidia is expected to unveil the next generation of graphics cards by the end of 2022; Therefore, the release of the DG3 in mid-2023 will mean that Nvidia will release its new graphics cards at least six months earlier and can gain more market share.
