Google Chrome is the most vulnerable browser in 2022; Firefox and Edge in the next ranks

New data shows that Google Chrome users should be careful when browsing the web; Because several vulnerabilities put their security at risk. According to Apple Insider, Google Chrome is considered the most vulnerable browser on the market. In 2022 alone, we saw 303 vulnerabilities and a total of 3,159 security bugs. These figures are based on information from the VulDB vulnerability database, which covers the period from January 1, 2022 to October 5, 2022.

Recent Chrome security vulnerabilities include: CVE-2022-3318, CVE-2022-3314, CVE-2022-3311, CVE-2022-3309, and CVE-2022-3307. The database does not yet list the details of these defects; But Atlas VPN says that they can lead to memory corruption on the computer. Users can fix these problems by updating the browser to version 106.0.5249.61.

Browser vulnerability statistics list

Mozilla’s Firefox browser ranks second in the list with 117 vulnerabilities. As of October 5, Microsoft Edge had 103 vulnerabilities, which is 61 percent more than the entire year of 2021. In total, the mentioned browser has had 806 vulnerabilities since its release.

The next option on the list is Safari, which has one of the least vulnerabilities. For example, in the first quarter of 2022, it had only 26 vulnerabilities, and the total number of bugs reported since its release was 1,130. Meanwhile, so far in 2022, we haven’t seen any vulnerabilities reported for the Opera browser, with just 344 bugs in total.
