Disclosure of Apple’s ideas; The iPhone’s notch and dynamic island were supposed to be like this

Apple first explored the idea of a pop-up menu on the right side of the screen that would allow users to view the clock, mobile antenna, Wi-Fi signal, screen brightness, and battery charge level. This menu originally looked like a second notch and disappeared when not in use.

Another idea that Apple had in mind was to hide the notch with a black status bar at the top of the screen. OLED displays display black by turning off the pixels, so this design helped conserve battery life.

Apple later came up with the idea of Dynamic Island and, according to the images, considered various designs for it. Dynamic Island initially had a fixed design. Apple also included a whole row of system shortcuts for it, a design that was never used.

Apple has expanded Dynamic Island to all iPhone 15 models and continues to sell iPhone 13, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus with a notch. Rumors suggest that Apple plans to move the iPhone’s front camera and Face ID sensors below the display, but we don’t expect to see these changes in the iPhone 16 series.
