Benchmark comparison of A17 Pro and Snapdragon 8 generation 3; Apple finally kneel?

Graphical benchmarks clearly show that Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has been able to experience a significant generational improvement over Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

The new Snapdragon graphics are even stronger than the A17 Pro, and the difference between the two chips in the Wildlife Extreme and Solar Bay tests (ray tracing) reaches 32% and 37%, respectively.

When Qualcomm unveiled Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, it said that this system-on-chip is 50% better than the previous generation in the field of ray tracing; However, independent surveys show that progress has reached 58%.

The graphic improvement is impressive at first glance, but we must not forget that the discussion of stable performance is also very important, and Qualcomm processors have not appeared brilliant in the field of stable performance in the last few generations. Experts say that we will probably see this problem in Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 as well, but less than previous generations.

In the tests of Android Authority, the performance of Snapdragon 8 generation 3 reached less than half of the initial performance after 9 minutes. The Wildlife Stress Test is more demanding than most games, but this performance clearly shows that gamers should pay close attention to the phone’s temperature.

What Android Authority has registered for Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is related to Qualcomm’s reference phone. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will probably have a special version of the Snapdragon 8 3rd generation with a higher frequency.

In general, the benchmarks show that Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is much better than Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and it shows one of the most significant generational leaps in recent years. Significant progress in the field of graphics and ray tracing and the new arrangement of CPU cores have made Snapdragon 8 generation 3 a powerful competitor to Google’s third generation tensor and even beat Apple’s A17 Pro in multi-core performance.

Phones equipped with Snapdragon 8 generation 3 will be launched before the end of 2023. We still do not know to what extent the price of the discussed CPU affects the price of the phone of different brands. Apple did not increase the price of the iPhone this year.
