Meta makes it possible for anyone to build tools like ChatGPT

Meta plans to release a commercial version of its large language model called LLaMA. This model uses artificial intelligence to generate text, image and code.

LLaMA, which stands for Large Language Model Meta AI, was publicly introduced in February and made available to researchers and academics.

According to the Financial Times, now Meta is ready to release the commercial version of LLaMA, and developers and businesses can use this model to build their desired applications.

Because LLaMA is an open-source technology, commercial access to it allows businesses to use AI in their applications; In this way, technology-related innovations in different fields will progress faster and on the other hand, more powerful models will be created.

LLaMA is presented in four versions, which have 7, 13, 33 and 65 billion parameters, respectively. By comparison, GPT-3.5 has 175 billion parameters; Of course, OpenAI did not provide any explanation about the number of GPT-4 parameters, but it is estimated to have more than one trillion parameters. The higher the number of parameters of the artificial intelligence model, the better it performs in understanding the input and producing the output.

Currently, OpenAI is known as one of the leading companies in the field of artificial intelligence with its ChatGPT chatbot and has been making a lot of noise in the tech world for the past months. With a huge investment in OpenAI, Microsoft uses GPT-4 technology in its Bing search engine, which uses artificial intelligence to generate images and answer text questions from users. Google also currently has its own Bard chatbot and large language models, none of which are open source.

ZDNet Although there are various open source AI models available, the commercial launch of LLaMA Meta is a very important step in this field, he writes. Because it is larger than most open source LLMs on the market.

Offering a commercial version of LLaMA’s large open-source language model, Meta, competes directly with OpenAI and Google, and such a move would speed up significant advances in artificial intelligence.
