Apple’s A16 Bionic chip with 4 nm architecture was unveiled

Apple unveiled its powerful A16 Bionic chip during the introduction of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max at the Far Out event held on September 7, corresponding to 16 September 1401.
to report single crunchApple shared the details of the powerful A16 chip that will replace the A15 chip in the new iPhone 14 Pro family of phones.
Apple’s A16 Bionic chip is designed with 4nm architecture and has around 16 billion transistors in its heart along with other functional components to accelerate AI-based tasks across smartphone applications and the iOS operating system.
Apple says the A16 Bionic chip has a 6-core processor, including 2 high-performance cores and 4 low-power cores. Also, the graphic processing unit of this chip has 5 cores, which, along with the 16-core neural engine, is ready to perform more than 17 billion operations per second simultaneously. This ability gives Apple the confidence to claim that this chip is the most powerful chip in the smartphone world right now.
The Cupertinos claim that the high-efficiency cores save up to 20% in energy consumption compared to the same cores in the A15 chip; While the low-consumption cores will consume a third of the energy of unnamed competing chips.
The memory bandwidth capacity of the graphics processing unit used in Apple’s A16 chip shows an increase of up to 50%, and in general, Apple claims that the A16 chip responds 40% faster than competitors.
Other key features of this chip include a custom ISP processor that supports the iPhone 14 Pro’s camera system. The processor, graphics processing unit and neural engine and ISP used in the A16 chip were put together to use the iPhone’s new camera hardware to its full potential and perform more than 4 billion operations for each photo the user takes.
In addition, a display engine is built into this chip to provide a maximum brightness of 2000 nits, an always-on display feature with a refresh rate of 1 Hz, and anti-aliasing to smooth the edges of curved images. One of the key features of iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max was introduced under the name Dynamic Island, whose animations are displayed very smoothly and eye-catching thanks to the presence of the A16 chip.
Also, the Secure Enclave in the A16 chip stores all personal data such as Face ID and contacts, health monitoring data, etc. in encrypted form so that they are only available through the iPhone device.
It goes without saying that the regular models of the new iPhones, i.e. iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, are equipped with the A15 chip with a five-core GPU, which we saw last year in the iPhone 13 Pro series.
Apple’s new generation iPhones Pro can be pre-purchased from September 9, 2022 (September 18, 1401), and their supply will begin on September 16, 2022 (September 25, 1401).
