It has been a long time since the release of the latest Mac Pro model, Apple’s desktop computer. The Mac Pro is the only member of the Mac family that still uses an Intel processor and is not equipped with Apple silicon. The latest benchmarks show that Apple’s new and affordable computer has more power than some Mac Pro configurations.
According to Digital TrendsThe recently unveiled Mac Mini M2 has managed to beat Apple’s desktop computer in both single-core and multi-core tests. In Geekbench 5, the Mac mini scored a single-core score of 1,944 and a multi-core score of 8,790, topping the Mac Pro with single-core and multi-core scores of 1,019 and 8,037, respectively. This is an important achievement for Apple, but at the same time it calls into question the pricing policy of the Mac Pro.
This is not the first time that the M2 processor appears to be more powerful than the Mac mini computer processor. Last summer, the 13-inch MacBook Pro benchmarks spoke of the high power of this small laptop. The 13-inch MacBook Pro managed to beat this computer despite the $5,000 price difference with the Mac Pro.
