Apple has discontinued the popular weather app Dark Sky

Entering 2023, Apple ended the activity of its popular weather program called Dark Sky. This application was already removed from the App Store in September and users can no longer use it from today.

Apple purchased the Dark Sky app in March 2020 and has since added many of its features to the default weather app on iPad, iPhone, and Mac. In a support document earlier this month, the company shared information about how Dark Sky users will use its default weather app, which now shows local forecasts including rainfall, an hourly forecast for the next 10 days, high-resolution radar maps and severe weather alerts.

to report McRumors, your device must be updated to iPadOS 16, iOS 16, or macOS Ventura to use Dark Sky features in the weather app. It is worth mentioning that some features of this program are currently only available in selected countries.

Apple will also disable the Dark Sky app API for third-party weather apps starting March 31 and replace it with its own WeatherKit weather app API.
